My newsletter for October was going to be all about my filmmaking sizzle reel. The email was typed up and ready to go. Then yesterday, I found out I was being laid off from my job.
Suddenly, I felt pulled in two directions. Do I stay excited and act like nothing happened for the benefit of the newsletter, or do I acknowledge all the uncertainty I’m feeling? The decision needed to be made immediately. I found out about my job yesterday, and the newsletter is scheduled to come out tomorrow.
I’ve decided to acknowledge it. Tomorrow’s newsletter will address my layoff and what it means for The Shadow. But I don’t want to detract from my excitement in sharing the sizzle. I am proud of it, and I want to focus on that.
